Lumen Dynamics Group Inc., based in Ontario, Canada, has sold its Burleigh product line to Thorlabs Inc, a provider of photonics equipment for the scientific market.
Burleigh products include piezoelectric micromanipulators and microscope mounting systems for the life-science research market. The divestiture will allow the Burleigh product line to be more strategically developed, officials from both companies noted. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Lumen Dynamics will continue to focus on its X-Cite, OmniCure and Excelerate brands and strengthen its platform for delivering technology within the cellular imaging, medical and optoelectronics assembly and UV printing industries.
“The divestiture of the Burleigh line is a result of Lumen Dynamics’ strategic commitment to its core business of 27 years—delivering the innovative application of light,” said Allan Firhoj, president and CEO of Lumen Dynamics. “Lumen Dynamics’ exclusive focus on delivering innovative high value light based solutions will benefit our customers globally and allow our business to grow even stronger.”
