Norristown, Pa.-based Rondo-Pak Inc., a provider of folding cartons to the biotech and medical device industries, has developed a new folding box with a tamper evidence feature that surpasses future first opening verification security requirements set to be introduced by European Union regulators by 2016. The folding box’s first opening is detectable through perforations in the lid and dust flaps that rip off upon opening. According to the company, the new folding box’s tamper evidence solution is more reliable than certain glues or labels. The box also permits machine speed to be maintained during manufacture and packaging procedures, which is beneficial for overall equipment efficiency of the packaging line.
“Given its high level of product protection and packaging efficiency, Rondo’s tamper evidence solution is a forward-thinking packaging solution that raises the bar for upcoming products,” said Ed Bani, technical services manager at Rondo-Pak.
