Spectronics Corporation has launched the AccuMAX Series of digital radiometers/photometers, which reportedly give accurate readouts for ultraviolet (UV) irradiance, visible illuminance and luminance light readings. The readout units, according to the Westbury, N.Y.-based firm, are specially calibrated for use with interchangeable sensor detectors. When equipped with a sensor detector, the AccuMAX readout unit can satisfy various laboratory or life sciences applications, including fluorescent inspection and UV dosing, the company said. Single-wavelength sensor detectors are available in both standard and extended ranges, with the standard range providing UV readings from microwatts to milliwatts and the extended range providing measurements from milliwatts to watts. All sensors are ideal for checking the intensities of fluorescent UV tubes and HID UV bulbs, the company claimed. AccuMAX meters are microprocessor-controlled with software-driven functions and the readout unit has user-customized settings to work with various interchangeable sensor detectors. All detectors, according to the company, can be connected directly to the readout unit or by a standard USB cable. Powered by two nine-volt batteries, the readout unit is lightweight and portable, and features a large LCD screen.
