Spectronics Corporation’s latest viewing cabinet proves that size really doesn’t matter. The compact, lightweight CM-10MP is less than a foot in length, but nonetheless packs a big punch. Its weight (four pounds) makes the cabinet easily transportable for life sciences workers who need to conduct high-contrast fluorescence analysis, examine TLC plates or perform a quality control inspection of PC boards. Adding to the CM-10MP’s functionality is its size—at 8.75 inches wide, 10 inches long and 4.5 inches high, the product effortlessly fits into cramped spaces. Made of molded, high-impact plastic for durability, the cabinet features a contoured eyepiece with a built-in ultraviolet-absorbing window for safe viewing, according to Westbury, N.Y.-based Spectronics. Openings on top of the cabinet can accommodate one or two MiniMAX Series UV lamps, which are available in three models—UV-5A for long-wave UV (365 nanometers), UV-5F for short-wave UV (254 nanometers) and UV-5NF for a combination of both long- and short-wave ultraviolet emissions.
