Once again, I find myself wandering the many halls of the Medica and CompaMed trade events. Between checking out the latest and greatest from the medtech elite, discovering new firms displaying their first products at the show, or catching up with those I’ve met before, I took a moment to reach out to representatives at several companies exhibiting at the medical device gathering this year. Hopefully, these questions provide useful information for anyone unable to meet with them at the event or those who are not headed to Germany this year. With that in mind, Andrew P. Holman, president of Q Medical Devices, Part of the Q Family, shared the following insights to help you determine if the firm is a potential services partner for you in 2020 or beyond.
Sean Fenske: What technology or service are you emphasizing at Medica/CompaMed this year?
Andrew P. Holman: Q Medical Devices offers end-to-end design, manufacturing, and supply chain management services through Qure Medical, Degania, Biometrix, and Arthesys product lines, but the key is our intimacy of end-user markets and our ability to develop products that enhance the surgeon-to-patient experience. We believe this “intimacy” is essential to function as a world-class medical device leader.
Fenske: What’s the most common challenge customers inquire about and how do you address it?
Holman: Customers are looking for the best product quality to enhance their go-to-market success. Q Medical Devices uses every point of customer interaction to systematically gather, analyze, and generate insights to become more knowledgeable about their needs. This enables us to create enduring and dependable medical device solutions customers can rely on without hesitation.
Fenske: If you could give one piece of advice to companies seeking a manufacturing partner before they make a decision, what would it be?
Holman: Look for a partner who is not only customer focused, but also committed to building deep, multi-level relationships to drive insight. Then, enter into the partnership as early as possible to capitalize on your partner’s expertise and capabilities to reduce lead times and ensure on-time delivery, while improving quality through advanced engineering services.
Fenske: What are the forces driving medical device manufacturers to seek your technology/services over doing it in-house?
Holman: Reduced lead time for time-to-market product introductions, lack of experienced engineering resources at medical OEMs, capital investment allocation, and pressure to reduce product costs.
Fenske: In what ways is your company able to aid in getting a product (project) to market faster?
Holman: Our deep market knowledge enables Q Medical Devices to develop innovative internal processes, products, and services that take the complexity and guesswork out of product development for customers.
Q Medical Devices, Part of the Q Family, is located at Medica/Compamed in Hall 8A, Booth/Stand H08.
