It's Business First as the Medical Device Industry Gathers for the Fourth Annual Medical Device Puerto Rico Exhibition and Conference
By MPO Staff
Event organizers reported record turnout for last year’s Medical Device Puerto Rico Exhibition and Conference. As in years past, the 2008 event will attract medtech professionals from around the world. Photo courtesy of Reed Life Sciences. |
Medical Device Puerto Rico, which is held along with Interphex Puerto Rico and Supply Chain & Logistics Puerto Rico, attracted nearly 1,300 industry professionals in 2007, a 20% increase compared to the previous year. The show’s planners are expecting continued growth for this year’s event. All three programs brought almost 8,000 exhibitor personnel, attendees and conferees to the 113-acre waterfront complex. For 2008, 100 exhibitors (up from 86 last year) are slated for Medical Device Puerto Rico and more than 500 across all three shows.
Once again sponsored by Medical Product Outsourcing and hosted by Reed Life Sciences, this year’s conference will include an in-depth look at the latest regulatory issues, manufacturing technologies and industry trends. The exhibition hall, meanwhile, will showcase the latest in new technologies, equipment, raw materials and services. The conference program will be broken into three tracks: regulatory issues; manufacturing excellence; and continuous improvement training.
The regulatory track will cover subjects such as CAPA violations, quality system compliance, managing FDA inspections and agency enforcement activity, FDA goals for 2008, and information technology compliance in the medical device industry.
The manufacturing track will provide insight on topics such as knowledge management, the use of lasers in manufacturing, a micro-molding case study, root cause analysis and combination products.
The continuous improvement training sessions address subjects including the role of manufacturing in the design process excellence, achieving operational excellence, process improvement and workplace creativity and innovation.
Plus, each day includes a keynote address. Thursday’s presentation will address the future of life sciences in Puerto Rico. On Friday, success models and manufacturing benchmarking will be the keynote topic.
Along with the vast number of educational opportunities available at the shows, networking will play a large role in this annual event, providing the opportunity to enhance existing business relationships as well as foster new ones. From a “Fiesta Hour” and a Valentine’s Day gala reception to cocktail receptions, luncheons and even a golf tournament, attendees will have ample time to meet new contacts and circulate with industry colleagues and business leaders.
