BioDirection Inc. has a new leader.
The company has hired Eric B. Goorno as president/CEO; his predecessor, Founder Brian McGlynn, will transition to director, chief technical officer and executive vice president.
“Mr. Goorno is a proven medical device executive with more than 25 years of medical industry experience in both early stage and high growth healthcare companies across multiple disease states and medical specialties. He is an aggressive, results-driven leader with extensive experience in emerging businesses, manufacturing and industry leading organizations.” said McGlynn. “Eric’s leadership, hands-on management skills and diverse cross-functional background will ensure that we are positioned to launch the first objective point-of-care product into the market.”
Prior to joining BioDirection, Goorno had an extensive career with Boston Scientific Corp., most recently as president of the company’s $395 million Urology & Gynecology Division. During his tenure, he was responsible for establishing and driving the division’s global strategy and sustained growth. While at Boston Scientific, Goorno served as vice president, New Market Development and Strategic Planning, Urology & Gynecology; vice president of Operations, Microwave Divisions; and vice president and general manager, Symbiosis Division. After leaving Boston Scientific in 2009, he founded Pulse Veterinary Technologies LLC, where he was founder and CEO until moving to BioDirection.
Earlier in his career Goorno held various plant manager and operation roles at Synthes USA. He has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Tufts University, cum laude, in Political Science and a master of Business Administration degree from Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration.
