Caliber Imaging & Diagnostics, formerly Lucid Inc., has named Daniel Koon to Director of Global Sales Support, effective immediately.
Koon most recently served as Caliber I.D.'s Research Sales Manager, and prior to that held other positions within the company.
Koon has experience in international sales and support of Caliber's VivaScope devices for research applications in clinical and
preclinical dermatology. He has spent extended periods in Europe to help develop and implement strategies to help the company's European distribution partner MAVIG GmbH. He joined Caliber more than 12 years ago, starting out as an engineering technician involved in the design and manufacturing aspects of the business, with subsequent promotions to Sales Application Engineer, Executive Account Manager and then Research Sales Manager.
"Having begun his career at Caliber as an engineer, Dan is extremely well-versed in VivaScope's technology, and he has the added advantage of having been an instrumental part of establishing business with our European distributor," CEO L. Michael Hone said. "In his new role, he will continue to build our customer support infrastructure. These activities are critical in helping us to generate additional revenue as we concurrently focus on the clinical side of the business. We expect him to excel in these efforts, mirroring his earlier success in facilitating our distribution in Europe."
Koon holds a bachelor's degree in mathematics and physics from the State University of New York College at Potsdam.
"As I have been actively involved in global sales, sales support and engineering for the VivaScope system, I believe I have a unique understanding of it, and the procedures that need to be adhered to as the company seeks to grow its medical and therapeutic research business," Koon said. "In my new role at Caliber, I look forward to helping to increase our support capability for our distribution partners around the globe."
Based in Rochester, N.Y., Caliber Imaging & Diagnostics designs, develops, and markets imaging solutions that show tissue at the cellular level. Founded in 1991 as Lucid Technologies Inc. and later Lucid, Inc., Caliber Imaging & Diagnostics offers in vivo confocal microscopes designed specifically for imaging skin and other tissue. Caliber I.D.’s Rapid Cell ID technology enables scientists and physicians to characterize intact normal and abnormal cellular architecture that is otherwise invisible to the naked eye.
Caliber I.D. developed the VivaScope, a disruptive, noninvasive point-of-care platform imaging technology with numerous applications in dermatology, surgery and research. Cleared by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, VivaScope has regulatory approval in most major markets.
