Advances in material science from companies like 3M and Avery Dennison Performance Tapes are such that tapes and adhesives can now be used instead of screws and rivets in many industrial applications, including medical hard goods and durable medical equipment. Not only are they easier to install than mechanical fasteners, bonding tapes such as 3M’s VHB® lend themselves to smoother, cleaner surfaces, eliminate parts loosening, and mitigate noise, vibration, and harshness.
