Swiss Medtech's Board of Directors has chosen Adrian Hunn as managing director. The 45-year-old will assume his position next week (June 1), succeeding Peter Biedermann, who stepped down from the position last fall.
Hunn is touted by the organization as a proven leader who possesses in-depth knowledge of the medical technology industry and has represented the sector on national and international stage. He also has extensive experience in strategic and operational areas related to the association’s developmental focus. "In Adrian Hunn, we are appointing a strong leader with close ties to the industry," Swiss Medtech President Damian Müller said. "He will position Swiss Medtech as a driver of business and innovation." Hunn's medtech sector and management experience, as well as his interest in economic policy issues, and passion for Switzerland as an important location for the sector all underscore the appointment's wisdom, according to Swiss Medtech.
Hunn studied social sciences in Fribourg, earned a postgraduate MBA, and has been active in the medtech industry and related sectors for 16 years. In addition to working for Sonova, he has also gained experience in medtech startups, including Dentalpoint, where he successfully guided future growth strategy as CEO. His fascination with Switzerland’s commitment to quality and precision aligns perfectly with industry objectives. "I see significant opportunities for the Swiss medtech industry if it consistently streamlines core processes for effectiveness and efficiency. The Swiss medtech sector lies close to my heart and I feel at home here," Hunn stated. "I am driven by engaging in a highly innovative and economically significant industry, which also helps people achieve the best health. I would like to thank the Board of Directors for their trust and look forward to working with member companies, the board, executive management, and the extended team."
Swiss Medtech represents more than 750 members in its role as industry association for Swiss medical technology. With 67,500 employees and a contribution of 11.5% to the positive trade balance, medical technology is an economically significant sector in Switzerland. Swiss Medtech advocates for conditions that enable the medtech industry to perform at peak capacity and provide first-class medical care.
