Speed Plastics, a specialist in high frequency welding, will showcase at MEDICA the range of engineering and OEM services it offers healthcare companies, including its recent investment in Europe’s largest high frequency welding machine.
Over the last year, the United Kingdom-based engineering company has invested nearly £1 million in state-of-the-art machinery, including a bespoke 100 kilowatt Zemat Mega Welding Machine created especially for Speed Plastics.
The one-of-a-kind system has a double workstation shuttle welder made for special projects where high frequency welding and sealing applications require precision, a large flat surface for product positioning and complex shape welds.
High frequency, or radio frequency welding, is the process of fusing materials together by applying radio frequency energy to the joined area. Using this method can result in a welding as strong as the original materials.
With the company’s state-of-the art welding equipment and in-house expertise, Speed Plastics manufactures a variety of products for the medical and pharmaceutical industry. These include pressure ulcer mattresses, respirator hoods and isolators, suits and sleeves. In addition to manufacturing its own products, Speed Plastics also offers customers bespoke engineering solutions, providing design and development services from concept to commercialization.
The company is experienced in a wide range of manufacturing techniques including ultrasonic welding, CNC machine cutting, tool making, sewing, silk-screen printers, and a roller press to deliver a wide range of services to customers. Speed Plastics' expertise delivers flexibility and responsiveness to customers’ needs, ensuring lead times are short and products are made to the highest quality.
“We have made huge investments over the last year to stay at the forefront of technology and are delighted to house Europe’s largest high frequency welding machine," Operations Director Jane Collyer, said. "We believe anyone can make a product, but what sets us aside from our competitors is that we truly understand our customers’ needs. Within the healthcare arena, many of our products have made a significant contribution to the quality of life for patients. We are very excited to be back at MEDICA to showcase our services and speak to existing and potential customers.”
MEDICA 2023 is taking place Nov. 13-16 in Düsseldorf, Germany. Speed Plastics will be located in the U.K. Pavilion, Hall 16 stand H15 – 4.
