Smart Meter has received SOC 2 certification, awarded by the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants (AICPA).
The certification resulted from an independent evaluation by Schellman & Company—a consulting firm that specializes in SOC assessments—of Smart Meter’s data controls and specifically its security protocols.
Engaging an independent auditor to examine and report on Smart Meter’s controls provides Smart Meter the ability to understand how to meet the needs of its partners and provides an objective evaluation of the effectiveness of controls that address operations and compliance. Smart Meter has the only private data network for RPM in the United States.
“By undergoing this independent review of our controls, Smart Meter has proven that its partner and patient data are always secure with our network,” Smart Meter CEO Casey Pittock said. “Gaining this certification is noteworthy, but we will continue to improve our robust security protocols since cybersecurity is an ongoing battle.”
The SOC 2 audit included the review of risk assessment, procedures, information and communications systems, and ongoing monitoring. This extensive review of Smart Meter’s data security protocols reaffirms the company is protecting customer data from unauthorized access and theft and that doing so is a priority for Smart Meter.
“Our partners, providers, and patients have asked for evidence that Smart Meter’s data controls are trustworthy,” Smart Meter Chief Marketing Officer Bill Bassett stated. “With an expanding network of vendor-customer relationships in the health tech sector and the importance of data security in these relationships, having a SOC 2 certification displays a badge of trust to all of Smart Meter’s partners.”
