MPO's Top Companies report was tops this past week with website visitors.
The magazine's annual ranking of the most lucrative medtech companies—featuring a new hierarchy and familiar mix of acquisitions and divestitures—captured the bulk of online views. Medtronic retained its leading position, while Abbott moved up in the listing and stalwarts like J&J, Smith+Nephew, and Philips slipped a few notches.
Also driving digital traffic this past week was an online exclusive from MasterControl that outlines trends and ways companies can keep abreast of SaMD (software as a medical device) regulatory requirements/changes. "Regulations may take a long time to develop, but they can still be hard to adapt to when the time comes. The key to keeping up with those regulations and embracing technologies such as AI/ML is digitizing processes," states Matt Lowe, chief product and marketing officer for MasterControl.
Other items generating page views included the full launch of Insulet's Omnipod 5 automated insulin delivery (AID) system, which integrates with the Dexcom 6 CGM system to help protect against high and low glucose levels; PerkinElmer's decision to divest its Applied, Food and Enterprise Services businesses to New Mountain Capital for $2.45 billion in cash; and the FDA 510(k) clearance of Acclarent's TruDi shaver blade, a single-use electromagnetically navigated blade for incision and removal of soft and hard tissue or bone in ENT, maxillofacial surgery, head and neck, and ENT skull base surgery. Acclarent is a part of Johnson & Johnson MedTech.
