Partnerships, personnel and new products garnered the most reader interest on MPO's website traffic this past week.
The top traffic drivers were collaborations between Siemens Healthineers and The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, and Enhatch and Holo-Light. The former union aims to advance personalized medicine and improve access to high-quality, cost-effective healthcare. Through the five-year strategic partnership, Siemens Healthineers and Varian, a Siemens Healthineers company, will provide comprehensive technology and services that will build on previous successful collaborative projects. The university and medical center will contribute research initiatives from scientists, physicians and patients. This work forms a living lab, a place where early scientific validation will speed breakthroughs in individualized medicine and health care delivery.
The Enhatch-Holo-Light pairing is designed to deliver a new extended reality (XR) streaming platform for intraoperative procedures and surgical training using augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR). The partnership allows surgical teams to train virtually, both independently and in a collaborative environment, in AR and VR through XR streaming technology, which enables an unprecedented level of detail and performance for a faster and safer way of developing, experiencing, and interacting with 3D content.
Using Holo-Light’s real-time streaming technology embedded in Enhatch’s Intelligent Surgery Ecosystem allows the visualization and manipulation of 2D and 3D content during virtual training and surgeries, creating a scalable solution for AR/VR in the operating room.
Brandee Pappalardo's job change dominated the flurry of personnel news: She was hired as senior vice president and chief medical officer for North America at Fresenius Kabi. Pappalardo, Ph.D., M.P.H., worked for more than 16 years at AbbVie in regional and global medical roles of increasing responsibility, most recently as vice president, Immunology, U.S. Medical Affairs. She has deep experience in immunology, including overseeing multiple product launches in rheumatology, dermatology and gastroenterology.
Labcorp's latest product release captured reader interest as well this week. The company is providing a new and convenient way for millions of individuals to determine whether they are at risk for developing diabetes through its at-home collection kit—available through Labcorp OnDemand—that measures hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) from a small blood sample. Labcorp is the only commercial laboratory to provide HbA1c testing using a new, cutting-edge collection device from Weavr Health, a diagnostics company that provides remote biofluid collection devices to extend access to health and wellness testing.
Also enticing cybervisitors was an exclusive story detailing the continued momentum behind the Critical Medical Infrastructure Right-to-Repair Act of 2020 and debunked some of the myths surrounding the proposed law.
