Hologic announced on Giving Tuesday an expansion of philanthropic efforts with a $5 million donation to nonprofit organizations near its majot facilities in the coming year.
The increase in giving will benefit women’s health and other fields that the company operates in. It will also benefit STEM education programs and social/racial equality initiatives.
“Hologic’s philanthropy reflects the purpose that unites our employees around the world: to enable healthier lives everywhere, every day,” Hologic Chairman, president, and CEO Steve MacMillan told the press. “We thank our purpose-driven team members and nonprofit partners for making a positive difference in the communities where they live and work.”
The company aims to donate $1 million around Marlborough, Mass. where it is headquartered and employees work on cytology, breast and skeletal health, and gynecological surgical products. $1 million will go to its San Diego facility, where it manufactures diagnostic tests. $1 million will go to other major U.S. sites, another million to international sites, and the final million to its internal “Partners in Giving” program which supplements U.S. employee donations to chosen charities.
Established in 2012 as a one-day annual celebration of community-based generosity, Giving Tuesday has become a global phenomenon that encourages people to do good year-round.
