Universal Photonics Inc.06.05.20
Universal Photonics Incorporated, global manufacturer and distributor of critical surfacing and polishing technology, announces ISO 9001:2015 certification of its Central Islip, N.Y., manufacturing and distribution facility. While Universal Photonics has always operated under strict standards, certification of the Central Islip facility completes the goal of company-wide ISO 9001:2015 certification. UPI’s Vernon, N.Y., facility, JH Rhodes, certified since 2001, was the first New York manufacturer of precision surfacing materials to achieve ISO 9001 certification. It is currently certified with the latest ISO 9001:2015 version.
ISO certification is accepted as a global standard for quality system management. It signifies that Universal Photonics and its divisions, including JH Rhodes Polishing Pad Manufacturer, Nuvite Chemical Compounds, CV Nanotechnology Precision Polishes, Aquabond Technologies, and JI Morris Polishing Textiles, meet or exceed global requirements for quality in operations. The ISO standard safeguards customers and users of Universal Photonics’ products and services, ensuring operational consistency, reliability, and ever-improving products and services. It demonstrates the existence of an effective quality management system that satisfies the rigors of an independent, external audit. Most importantly, ISO 9001:2015 certification assures customers that Universal Photonics® and its divisions are fully committed to providing the very best in surfacing science.
Universal Photonics’ dedication to the advancement of surfacing and polishing technology in all phases of fabrication spans nearly a century providing more than 9,000 products including polishes, pads and equipment. The company’s goal—to deliver the most advanced surfacing and production products—is complemented with efficient sales service and expert technical assistance.
The company's ISO 9001 certification follows Universal Photonics' early January announcement of the next generation of abrasive polishing compounds specifically for hard optics.
HASTILITE HRD is a nanodiamond lapping slurry engineered to reduce process and total polishing times on ultra-hard optics an average 50 percent to 80 percent. Traditional diamond lapping processes either achieve high rates or high finish, but not both at the same time. HASTILITE HRD’s unique formulation synergistically combines mechanical and chemical properties to enhance removal rates and deliver surfaces with an impeccable finish. Its unique formulation is well paired with a variety of pads and synthetic media like UPI’s polyurethane LP UNALON pads.
Universal Photonics offers a wide range of polishing compounds, slurries, and powders uniquely designed for optimal stock removal and surface finish. While all are excellent performers across a wide range of speeds, pressures, and polishing media, each formulation has a highly individualized set of properties to meet very specific criteria.
