Micro Systems Technology07.25.19
Micro Systems Engineering Inc., an MST company and leading specialist in high-reliability medical microelectronics including development & design, system integration, and manufacturing celebrated its 40th anniversary in June 2019.
MSEI's expertise in development and manufacturing is targeted towards medical technology, in particular for active implants in the area of CRM (cardiac rhythm management), neurostimulation, and other implantable applications. Its extensive knowledge in miniaturization and electronics manufacturing, however, is not only available for applications in medical technology but also for other high-end markets.
Founded in 1979 in Lake Oswego, Oregon, the company produced its first ICD (Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator) utilizing chip & wire assembly on ceramic substrates in 1993.
In 1999, MSEI introduced volume SMT (Surface-Mount Technology) production of rigid-flex followed by flex substrates in 2003, then three years later, introduced multiple SDBGA (Stacked Die Ball Grid Arrays). In 2008, the decision was made to become part of the Micro Systems Technologies (MST) Group—part of a unit that makes it possible for the Company to position itself as a strong global player.
With the integration of a fully automated functional test handling system, along with a major SMT capacity expansion in 2009, MSEI ensured state-of-the-art manufacturing capabilities for future requirements.
Working towards a digital factory, Micro Systems Engineering Inc. accomplished ERP and MES integration into production information systems in 2012 followed by high volume «no touch» assembly and paperless factory in 2014.
Skilled employees, continuous technological developments, comprehensive supply chain management, investments in the latest fabrication processes, and a MES-controlled highly automated manufacturing environment with 100% traceability, flexible assembly, and test make MSEI a leading partner for high quality and high reliability medical microelectronics, design, and production.
