Medical Guardian has hired Mark Leighton as vice president of business development and chief operating officer. Leighton brings more than 25 years of management experience to Medical Guardian, 10 of which were focused in the healthcare space. Mark’s most recent role was as CEO of Connect America, a provider of personal emergency response systems. In his new role at Medical Guardian, Leighton's primary focus will be to obtain new business and partnerships to fuel the company’s growth. In addition, Leighton is charged with running the daily operations and working closely with sales, client services, marketing, personnel, vendor relations, and product management.
“We are thrilled to have someone of Mark's experience and character join our growing team,” said Geoff Gross, founder and CEO of Medical Guardian. “Mark is a tremendous leader who brings to Medical Guardian an impressive background of building strategic partnerships in addition to a strong operational focus.”
Before Connect America, Leighton spent four years at CVS Pharmacy, where he was able to apply his managerial skills to significantly grow market share and drive increased profits. His early career experience included management positions in retail, procurement, marketing and buying.
“I am excited to be joining Medical Guardian as vice president of new business development and COO,” said Leighton. “There is such a great culture and team here and I see tremendous potential for growth. The entire Medical Guardian team is dedicated to doing what they do best: providing a service that gives freedom, safety and security to older Americans. I see great opportunity here for me to apply my years of experience in healthcare to create meaningful programs that bring value to the partners we work with.”
Leighton also formed and sold a start-up called Shatter Shield Security, which focuses on security and safety products.
Founded in 2005, Medical Guardian provides personal emergency response systems. Headquartered in Philadelphia, Pa., Medical Guardian provide medical alert devices and support to individuals who want an independent, active lifestyle. The company serves tens of thousands of clients across the United States.
