Mountain View, Calif.-based Health Level Inc., has named Ray Scott as its new board chairman.
Scott is well known in health information technology (IT) for pioneering health information exchanges through Axolotl Corp., which he cofounded in the 1990s. Axolotl was ultimately acquired by Optum. Scott has worked closely with standards bodies and public and private collaborations to establish a framework for secure patient information exchanges between authorized providers.
“Ray Scott has made significant contributions to the company as an adviser over the past few years,” said Parag Paranjpe, founder and CEO of Health Level. “Ray’s formal acceptance of the chairman’s role is a significant milestone for Health Level. He will play a pivotal role in the company strategy and execution.”
Following the development of novel information search techniques early in his career, which led to the implementation of New Scotland Yard’s first criminal intelligence system, Scott specialized in methods for software system and program design. An entrepreneur for most of his career, Scott works with startups in Europe and the United States and has served on the boards of many public and private technology companies. He is currently serving on the boards of Health Fidelity Inc. and iRhythm Technologies Inc., and is the Chairman of eHealth Technologies Inc., in Rochester, N.Y.
“Health Level has a unique and significantly differentiable product that has proven itself an invaluable tool in discovering and reporting meaningful relationships between clinical, financial and operational data,” Scott said. “I believe the company has a very bright future ahead, helping health systems provide high quality care efficiently and profitably, and I am pleased and proud to be its chairman.”
