Nelipak Corp. has closed on its acquisition of Phoenix, Ariz.-based Flexpak Corp. The business will be owned by Nelipak and operate under the name of Nelipak Healthcare Packaging.
Flexpak, founded in 1974, manufacturers custom thermoformed trays, clamshells, and blister packaging with an emphasis on medical markets as well as consumer and food markets. Flexpak also provides design engineering, concept development, prototyping, in-house tooling design and fabrication, supply chain management services, and maintenance and validation services.
Under the Nelipak brand, Flexpak will continue to develop its thermoformed packaging products and service capabilities for the healthcare market.
According to Nelipak officials, the acquisition "strengthens" the firm's commitment to the U.S. healthcare market and will allow for Nelipak to take advantage of growth opportunities in the Southwest United States and Northern Mexico. Flexpak’s customers now will have access to Nelipak’s global design services and clean-room manufacturing, leadership from both companies noted.
“This is an incredible growth opportunity for Flexpak’s employees and its customers,” said Steven Murray, president and CEO of Flexpak. “With access to Nelipak’s global capabilities, we look forward expanding the Southwest U.S. and Northern Mexican markets and exploring new ways to enhance our value to customers.”
Nelipak is completely focused on the healthcare market.
"We are thrilled to expand our global manufacturing footprint and gain greater access to the U.S. and Mexican markets with the acquisition of Flexpak,” said Mike Kelly, president and CEO of Nelipak. “This acquisition enables us to better support our customers, and the Flexpak team and facility complement our current capabilities."
Nelipak has facilities in Cranston, R.I.; Phoenix, Ariz: Venray, the Netherlands; Galway, Ireland; and San Jose, Costa Rica. The company offers medical trays and blisters, surgical procedure trays, pharmaceutical handling trays, and custom-built sealing machines.
