Each year the magazine recognizes 125 companies for excellence in human capital investment. For a second consecutive year, Training recognized Smiths Medical, this year specifically for its LEAD Talent Development Program and its North American 12-Week Onboarding Program for sales and marketing new-hires.
LEAD is a comprehensive leadership development program designed for supervisors and managers. The curriculum focuses on three areas essential to leadership success: Understanding the Leadership Role, Knowing the Business, and Leading Others. Approximately 100 of 600 managers participated in the program in 2013. In 2014, Smiths’ Talent Development group will expand the program worldwide, conducting it in several locations and in multiple languages.
The North American 12-Week Onboarding Program is a multi-functional approach to acquainting new employees with Smiths Medical, the business environment and the company’s products and services. Sales and Marketing personnel receive product training, sales effectiveness instruction, field coaching and lessons in territory management.
