The Nypro Healthcare division of Jabil Company has opened a new design and product introduction center in Dallas, Texas. The facility will offer full product design and development capabilities for single-use and electro-mechanical Class I, II and III medical devices.
The new 32,000-square-foot facility includes an advanced technology model shop, a fully digitized machine shop, environmentally controlled chambers, and a 1,500-square-foot Class 10,000 clean room. It is strategically located to serve major healthcare device manufacturers and customers in the United States; Cayey, Puerto Rico; and Tijuana, Mexico. The facility will employ 25 professionals in the next 12 months and is projected to add another 20 positions within three years.
“Our investment in the new Dallas center emphasizes our commitment to industry leadership in the device design, development and the launch capabilities required to meet this demand,” said Alan Myers, president, Nypro Healthcare. “We continue to raise the bar on what it means to be an industry leading healthcare design and manufacturing services organization.”
“The decision to launch the Dallas design and product introduction facility is the result of listening to our healthcare customers and delivering high-end, new-product development technologies to help them innovate advanced new devices,” said Brian Highley, vice president and general manager, Medical Device and Consumer Health, Nypro Healthcare. “The new center is to be a fully resourced, one-stop facility to help our customers accelerate the concept-through-commercialization process—all under one roof.”
The new Nypro Healthcare design and product introduction center will offer a four-phase product development process providing solutions to shorten product development cycles, overcome capacity constraints, reduce costs and gain a “first-to-market advantage,” according to company officials. In addition to “art-to-part” development, the facility will offer specialists with expertise in processing, tooling, packaging, quality engineering, procurement and supply chain management.
Also offered, will be design history file management, quality and regulatory support, in-house rapid prototyping (including 3-D printing), a full-service metrology center and engineering test labs.
