San Diego, Calif.-based Specialty Manufacturing Inc. (SMI) has completed an expansion and remodeling of its manufacturing facility in its home town. The company provides a range of manufacturing services, including the full-service manufacture of medical enclosures, plastic thermoforming, pressure forming and twin sheet forming.
In June 2010, SMI was acquired by Providien LLC, a supplier of medical devices and advanced manufacturing solutions for the life-sciences industry.
The completed expansion project more than doubles SMI’s manufacturing and warehouse space, increasing it from 25,000 to 62,000 square feet. Additionally, tool room capacity was doubled to 4,000 square feet and the company’s offices were expanded.
“SMI’s plant expansion project enables the company to continue its rapid growth rate, and we are pleased to make this investment in increased capacity to support our valued customers’ growing needs,” said Jeff Goble, Providien president and CEO.
