West Chester, PA-based Animas has completed the purchase of most of Redwood City, CA-based Cygnus for $10 million.
According to the deal, Animas, a maker of insulin infusion pumps and related products, bought more than 235 U.S. and foreign patents of Cygnus, a maker of glucose-monitoring devices including the GlucoWatch Biographer.
The only portion of Cygnus that Animas did not purchase was the rights or obligations related to an arbitration dispute with Raritan, NJ-based Ortho-McNeil Pharmaceutical, a division of Johnson & Johnson.
