It seems website visitors couldn’t get enough Siemens Healthineers and Medtronic news this past week.

Both companies drove site traffic through proclamations of a partnership, product approval, and professional development. Siemens Healthineers dominated headlines with the announcement that its Diagnostic chief had accepted a job as Smith+Nephew’s CEO. Before his Siemens tenure, Dr. Deepak Nath worked at Abbott Labs, eventually becoming president of Abbott Vascular and helping broker the company’s $28 billion deal for St. Jude Medical Inc. Nath also worked for Amgen, McKinsey and Company, and as a scientist at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. He earned both his bachelor and master of science degrees from the University of California, Berkeley. He will succeed current Smith+Nephew CEO Roland Digglemann on April 1.

Libba Sapitsky, former senior vice president of Customer Service at Siemens Healthineers, also made headlines with her move to Tandem Diabetes Care, where she heads up Customer Care. She most recently worked at CVS Health as vice president of Customer Service and Operations, leading contact center operations, customer experience, client support, continuous improvement, and workforce management teams. Sapitsky was one of three new members appointed to Tandem Diabetes Care’s board; one of the others was Rizwan Pervez, who most recently served as global head of Quality and Regulatory Compliance for Medtronic’s Respiratorys Intervention business. At Medtronic, Pervez helped establish worldwide strategy and direction for quality and regulatory matters; at Tandem Diabetes Care, he oversees Quality and Regulatory matters (as vice president). Like Nath, Pervez also held senior leadership roles at Abbott Labs.

Medtronic also garnered page views by winning FDA approval for its InterStim X sacral neuromodulation therapy device, and Siemens amassed visitor volume by partnering with UNICEF to strengthen sub-Saharan African health systems via improved access to diagnostics and treatments.
