Top company news topped MPO site traffic this past week in more ways than one.

The magazine’s annual ranking of the industry’s top revenue-generators was the second largest page view generator, trailing 3M’s leadership change but edging out recall news from J&J subsidiary Abiomed.

Topping readers’ interest this past week was 3M’s choice of Zimmer Biomet CEO Bryan C. Hanson to lead the firm’s new healthcare company spinoff as of Sept. 1. Hanson has been Zimmer Biomet’s president/CEO since 2017 and its chairman since 2021.

Trailing the top companies report was Abiomed’s Class 1 recall (as per the FDA) of its Impella RP Flex with Smart Assist system catheters. The company initiated the June 29 recall over anticoagulant confusion—the catheters’ instructions for use fail to appropriately address precautions that should be taken when treating patients with anticoagulation time below the recommended value (160-180 seconds).

Other items of interest to website visitors this past week was the FDA’s clearance of Levita Magnetics’ Magnetic-Assisted Robotic Surgery platorm, and Cochlear Limited’s debut of its next-generation Cochlear Osia implantable hearing system.
