AiM Medical Robotics Hires Startup Veteran as President, CFO

AiM Medical Robotics has appointed Andrew “Andy” Aberdale as president and chief financial officer (CFO).

Aberdale joins the company as it advances development of its MRI-compatible robotic stereotactic neurosurgery system toward regulatory submission and commercialization.

According to the company, Aberdale has more than 30 years of operational and financial leadership experience. Over the past two decades, he has focused on commercializing early-stage companies. AiM is his seventh startup venture.

His previous experience includes leading two companies through public listings on the NASDAQ and NYSE via traditional IPOs and SPAC transactions, as well as overseeing the sale of four companies to strategic buyers and private equity firms. Aberdale previously grew a startup funded entirely through debt to a $260 million exit in 26 months and secured more than $750 million in domestic and international grants for another venture.

Aberdale said his priorities will include strengthening the company’s operations, financial strategy, capital planning, and commercialization efforts as AiM prepares to bring its robotic neurosurgery platform to market.

Earlier this year, the company began a collaboration agreement with Siemens Healthineers to implement an interface allowing AiM’s robotic platform to operate with Siemens Healthineers MRI systems. The duo believes the interface-based integration is a crucial step toward coordinated robot-MRI operation and builds a foundation for future partnership opportunities.
