Systems could examine health-relevant data to identify risk factors in emergencies and serious accidents. Barbella.Swiss firm Checktor Biosciences has set itself the goal of facilitating the targeted treatment of infections with rapid point-of-care tests. Their initial focus is on the need for better gonorrhoea diagnostics; the lack of rapid tests adds to the issue of antibiotics being misused, as they are often prescribed based on symptoms that can be misleading. Photo: Messe Düsseldorf/ctillmann.In addition to the Medica Start-up Competition, the “Healthcare Innovation Worldcup” is a highlight every year, especially for the start-up scene. As part of the competition, startups in various categories pitch for the best solution for the “Internet of Medical Things.” This year’s winner was the team from Samphire Neuroscience with a headset that acts on the neural networks of the brain to help relieve menstrual pain and the symptoms of premenstrual syndrome (PMS).
