An analytical breakdown of visitors to the world's largest trade fair.

Healthcare professionals from all corners of the globe are converging in Düsseldorf, Germany, this week to attend Medica 2018, the world's largest medical trade fair.  Visitors to this enormous show will have access to more than 5,000 exhibitors from nearly 70 countries showcasing tailored solutions for outpatient and clinical care. Digital health comprises a significant portion of this year’s Medica conference program, as the Internet of Things continues to shape the global health economy and transform both processes and business models.

Medica not only presents solutions for individual medical specialist disciplines but also takes on the complete workflow of patient treatment. The individual focal points are structured according to hall and include: electromedicine/medical technology (approx. 2,500 exhibitors); laboratory technology/diagnostics; physiotherapy/orthopedics; commodities and consumables; information and communication technology; medical furniture; and specialist furnishings for hospitals and practices.

In conjunction with Medica, the Compamed trade fair is taking place for the 27th consecutive year with approximately 800 exhibitors (Halls 8a and 8b). Previously, the items presented at this show would have generally included simple parts, components, and equipment for technical devices and medical products. But Compamed has become a hotspot in recent years for complex high-tech solutions such as innovative materials, microtechnology, and nanotechnology.
