MPO reached out to members of industry to address the following question:

What do you expect will be one significant change within medtech development and/or manufacturing as a result of the pandemic?

In response, Steve Santoro, executive vice president of MICRO, said:

Manufacturers have always needed to adapt to changing customer needs in response to evolving market demands. Given the uncertainty of the market, especially during the pandemic, it is more important than ever that we scale to market fluctuations, adjust production schedules, navigate supply chain disruptions, and maintain appropriate inventories. In addition, lines of communication between manufacturers and customers needs to be more open and consistent as transparency is key. Organizations that are nimble and solution-oriented for customers will be well positioned for future success.

During these uncertain times, it is important that companies seek opportunities to grow and expand capabilities with every project. Even an unintended pivot can take a company in a new direction. We cannot overlook the importance of any program for its potential to be an educational and engineering breakthrough for future applications.
