Tandem Diabetes Care and Dexcom announced the Tandem Mobi insulin pump with Control-IQ is now compatible with both the Dexcom G7 and G6 continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) systems.
This makes Tandem the only company with two insulin pump options that connect to both Dexcom G6 and G7. Tandem’s t:slim X2 insulin pump was the first automated insulin delivery (AID) system to feature Dexcom G7 integration, announced late last year.
According to the company, Tandem Mobi is the world’s smallest, durable AID. It was launched in the U.S. earlier this year. The AID is small enough to be worn in a coin pocket.
After connecting with Dexcom G6 or G7, Tandem Mobi can predict glucose levels 30 minutes in advance and automatically adjust insulin as needed to prevent highs and lows. With G7, users can have more time in closed loop with the CGM sensor’s 30-minute warm up time.
The company plans to email Mobi users in the U.S. in the coming weeks when their software update is available. Instructions on how to add the new feature (free of charge) by remote software update will also be included in the email.
Mobi pumps with the updated software are now shipping.
“As the leader in connectivity, Dexcom has been the CGM of choice for the development of AID systems for over a decade,” said Jake Leach, executive VP and COO at Dexcom. “We are proud to offer people with diabetes the ability to use Dexcom G7, our smallest and most accurate CGM, with Tandem Mobi to create a seamless user experience.”
