Machine Solutions Inc. has purchased Vela Technologies Inc., a San Diego-based designer and manufacturer of proprietary 3D UV curing equipment used for medical devices (catheters, guidewires and adhesive bonding), and industrial applications. Neither company disclosed the deal's terms.
The acquisition enables Machine Solutions to expand the medical device manufacturing automation technologies offered by its brands, including MSI, Steeger USA, Vante, PlasticWeld Systems, Crescent Design, Beahm Designs, BW-TEC, SEBRA and Intec Automation.
“Vela’s 3D UV curing technology is solidifying its place as the industry standard in the medical device manufacturing industry,” Machine Solutions President Brian Strini said. “We are excited to add another technology to our solutions portfolio, and look forward to the additional capabilities we can bring to our customers.”
The Vela team will continue to grow and develop state-of-the-art equipment, with additional global sales and service support from Machine Solutions.
“We are honored to join such a top-quality partner,” Vela President Joseph Stumpf said. “The Vela team will remain in place with added depth and capabilities to serve our existing and new customers.”
Vela is Machine Solutions’ ninth acquisition since joining the BW Forsyth Partners family of companies in 2012.
