Johnson Matthey (JM), a global leader in sustainable technologies, is opening a new facility in Mexicali, Mexico for its Medical Device Components business.
The brand-new construction will be the world’s only low-cost country manufacturer of nitinol sheet and tube.
With 40,000 square feet of manufacturing, dedicated solely to nitinol sheet and tubing, the new facility has double the capacity of JM’s previous site in San Jose. The new site will enable JM to provide customers with increased capacity for device launches, optimized costs, enhanced assurance of high product quality levels and dependable deliveries with speedier lead times.
The proximity to the San Diego facility will allow for consistency with JM’s company values, business processes, and management oversight.
Donald Freeman, managing director of Medical Device Components at Johnson Matthey, says: “With 35 years of nitinol experience, this is a new and exciting chapter. Our team works hard to establish honest, collaborative partnerships with our customers to help them reach their goals. With our new facility we will be able to optimize costs and deliver high quality products. Every customer will benefit from our focus on quality, on time delivery, capacity management & competitive pricing.”
The site is due to be fully operational by the beginning of 2023.
