Viasys of West Conshohocken, PA has bought BioBeat Medical Ltd., an ultrasound doppler systems’ manufacturer, for $4.5 million, according to the Philadelphia Business Journal.

The deal give Viasys’ NeuroCare division two new products – Sonara and Sonara/tek – that feature advanced digital transcranial doppler, or TCD, technology. TCD is a non-invasive method of measuring blood flow velocities in the arteries of the brain using ultrasound technology.

Viasys officials said Sonara and Sonara/tek will be launched this month to the European market. The products formerly of the Kadima, Israel-based company are under review by the FDA.
