Transoma Medical Inc. in St. Paul, Minn., has gone out of business, according to a message heard when calling the firm’s phone number.

“Due to the difficult market conditions, Transoma Medical Inc. has decided to exit the implantable loop recorder business and cease its business operations. As a result of this decision, Transoma Medical is in the process of dissolving its business and winding down its affairs. Thank you.”

The company, which manufactured implantable wireless monitoring systems, had filed to go public in late 2007.

Transoma Medical in September had started a long-term clinical study to gauge the effectiveness of its Sleuth AT, a wireless implantable cardiac monitoring device designed to detect syncope.

Data Sciences International Inc., a division spun off of Transoma Medical, remains in business.
