Business activities, new facilities, and MPO’s Top 30 Medical Device Companies were among the most popular topics in November.

Two acquisitions were of top notice this past month. Henry Schein announced the deal to acquire Acentus, a medical product supplier. This is said to reinforce Henry Schein’s commitment to the homecare medical supplies market.

MDC (Medical Device Components) has acquired nitinol-based medical component manufacturer, Lighteum. Through this deal, MDC will combine technologies to help expand its medical device portfolio. 

Cardinal Health also agreed to sell T2 Biosystems’ sepsis detection diagnostics. This multi-year U.S. agreement gives Cardinal Health exclusive rights to sell T2 Biosystems’ FDA-cleared T2Dx Instrument, the T2Bacteria Panel, and the T2Candida Panel.

WESTPACK and GE Healthcare each opened new facilities this past month. WESTPACK opened a new laboratory in Union City, CA. The new lab 18,500 square-foot facility is ISO 17025 accredited for mechanical and environmental testing of products and packaging for medical devices, and more.

GE Healthcare’s new AI Innovation Lab focuses on integrating AI into medical devices, building AI applications that enhance decision-making across the care journey and disease states, and using AI to support better outcomes and operational efficiencies system-wide.
