Structure Medical Expands in Hometown

Structure Medical LLC, a medical device manufacturer located in Mooresville, N.C., is making its hometown very happy by adding a reported 25 jobs and doubling the number of machines at its 24,000 square foot plant in Deerfield Business Park.

Robert Carney, executive director of the Mooresville-South Iredell Economic Development Corporation, said: “Structure Medical’s decision to expand its operations locally is a testament to how successful the leadership in Mooresville and the South Iredell area has been in creating a business-friendly environment that will bring high paying, highly skilled jobs to the area.”

The facility was opened only last year, and currently has 40 workers operating 25 computer numerical control machines. Before 2011, the company operated since 2006 in a 6,400 square foot plant in Talbert Pointe Business Park, also in Mooresville. Structure Medical also has a facility in Naples, Fla., and between the two locations employs approximately 130 people. Both facilities are ISO 13485:2003 certified.

“It was an option to either respond to our customer needs or turn away work that would eventually develop our competition,” Structure Medical CEO Robert Boody said. “We chose to grow and cultivate stronger relationships with our customers.”

Structure Medical LLC manufactures Class III (as designated by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration) orthopedic medical implants for the trauma, sports medicine, degenerative disease, tumor and congenital conditions market.
