SRI Names Medical Device Industry Veteran to Board

SRI/Surgical Express has named Charles W. Federico to the company’s board of directors.
Federico has 32 years of experience in the medical device industry. He retired earlier this year as group president and chief executive at Orthofix N.V but remains on the board of directors of the firm, which develops and manufactures medical devices for orthopedic and trauma use.
Previously, he was president of Smith & Nephew Endoscopy. The unit of the London-based company is based in Andover, Mass.
Federico’s appointment increases the total number of directors at SRI to seven, a majority of whom is independent in accordance with Nasdaq listing requirements.
Tampa, FL-based SRI had said in a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission last year that it was out of the compliance with Nasdaq rules following the Nov. 30 death of Lee R. Kemberling, who was an independent member of the SRI board and founder and owner of Kempco Systems, Inc. in Clearwater.
The company received a letter from Nasdaq staff on June 28, confirming it is now in compliance, according to a June 29 filing with the SEC.
