Soterix Medical has launched MxN-GO EEG, a combined high-definition transcranial electrical stimulation (HD-tES) and EEG system with a tethered design. The system is meant for research applications that need electrical stimulation and brain activity recording in mobile and natural environments. It has a lightweight, wire-free design for quick setup and ease-of-use, according to the company. It also has 33 stimulation channels and 32 recording channels. Soterix partnered with research-grade mobile EEG expert mBrainTrain to create this solution for mobile hybrid stimulation/EEG studies. HD-tES was made possible via electrode design innovations that allow safe, tolerated current passage through proprietary high-definition electrodes, individualized brain current-flow modeling, and patented targeting algorithms showing how to place and energize HD-electrodes on the head. “Soterix Medical was founded in 2008 to develop HD-tES as the first transcranial system capable of brain targeting with weak electrical stimulation,” said Soterix CEO Dr. Abhishek Datta. “The MxN-GO EEG solution combines into one product our 16 years of leadership and innovation in High-Definition with the unmatched mobile EEG collection expertise of mBrain Train.” “mBrainTrain and Soterix Medical engineers collaborated closely to develop the first wire-free wearable device with uncompromised EEG and HD-tES capabilities,” added mBrainTrain CEO Dr. Ivan Gligorijevic. “For any application requiring high-quality EEG and rigorous stimulation control in a mobile platform, the MxN-GO EEG is the standard. We are excited to be moving the boundaries of brain therapy research and neuroscience together.” Last August, Soterix began a Phase-2 clinical trial to evaluate combining its REMOTE-tDCS and a brain training program to treat long COVID.
