Smart Meter Unveils iGlucose Plus Cellular-Connected Glucose Meter

Smart Meter has introduced a new version of iGlucose, its cellular-connected glucose meter.
 
The redesigned iGlucose Plus requires no synching, pairing, smartphone, or Wi-Fi. It automatically sends results to providers using its built-in cellular technology for real-time blood glucose tracking from anywhere.
 
Patients can receive notifications and reminders on the device, both automated and sent from a healthcare provider or supplier. These may include dietary reminders or prescription pick-up reminders from a pharmacy.
 
iGlucose’s clear, color LED screen makes viewing testing instructions and results easier, according to the company. The glucose meter is also available with Spanish language on-screen prompts to improve care access for a largely underserved population.
 
In a Howard University study of patients with diabetes using iGlucose, 70% of high-risk participants lowered their A1c by an average of 2.8% within 90 days. Further, over-the-air software updates via cellular connectivity allows patients to add in new features.
