Excelitas Technologies Corp. has introduced the enhanced Cermax PE300BFX and PE322BFX Xenon short-arc lamps for use in hospital diagnostic, surgical endoscopy, and microscopy OEM applications.

“Since first introducing our Cermax Xenon lamp technology to the market in the 1980s, Cermax has become the industry standard for compact Xenon short arc lamps,” Excelitas Technologies Product Manager Kevin Tong said. “Entering the market to commemorate the 45th anniversary of the Cermax brand, our new PE300BFX and PE322BFX lamps provide suppliers involved in hospital diagnostic and surgical endoscopes and microscopes with the utmost flexibility in choice of post- processing, light-shaping optics.”

As the latest addition to the Cermax Ceramic Body Parabolic Xenon Lamp family, both Cermax arc lamps have a universal seven-hole base with several mounting options to support integration with a wide range of system designs, using traditional or unique sockets. Using advancements in material science and enhanced manufacturing controls, the PE300BFX and PE322BFX offer an extended, 1,000-hour warranty for longer lifespans. The PE300BFX meets the same output performance as the flagship PE300BFA lamp, while the PE322BFX delivers 10% higher output, which is maintained over its lifetime.

Cermax Xenon lamps from Excelitas feature a short-arc plasma paired with an internal reflector encased in a rugged and compact ceramic body. This construction incorporates the ideal approach to achieve high-intensity focused output for use in demanding applications such as clinical or hospital diagnostic and surgical endoscopes, microscopes, high-brightness projection systems, and more, according to the company.

Key attributes of the PE300BFX and PE322BFX lamps include:

  • 1,000-hour warranty (2,000 hours typical lifespan)
  • A universal seven-hole base
  • High-intensity illumination
  • Power range of 180-320 Watts
  • Broad spectral range with 5900° Kelvin color temperature
