The 60,500-square-foot plant offers capacities for both CDMO and packaging operations.

Sanner has expanded its U.S. presence by opening and officially starting manufacturing operations in Greensboro, N.C. The new facility is producing critical injection-molded components for medical devices and pharmaceutical packaging, as well as desiccant solutions.
The expansion reflects Sanner’s long-term growth strategy and provides customers with a local source for efficient and scalable manufacturing solutions. The new 60,500-square-foot facility (5,600 square meters) offers capacities for both CDMO and packaging operations. “We are thrilled to be opening the Sanner Group’s first North American injection molding and pharma desiccant packaging facility. Strategically positioned in North Carolina, this site will be supported by our strong design and development and design transfer teams here in Durham and Pittsboro,” Sanner U.S. President Ted Mosler said.
The GMP-compliant facility with automated environmental monitoring accommodates both white room and class 7 and 8 cleanroom space, as well as full laboratory capabilities for testing and metrology. With an additional 20,000 square feet (1,800 square meters) of easily expandable production space, Sanner can quickly adapt to growing customer demands. “We are now able to offer our medtech and pharma customers the full CDMO service including injection molding, from a single source in the US,” Mosler stated.
The new filling room with automated high-speed desiccant filling lines enables Sanner to provide customers in the North American pharmaceutical and nutraceutical industries with packaging solutions created in the United States. Among the first products manufactured in Greensboro are effervescent containers, the premium DASG-1 desiccant closure, and AdCap desiccant canisters; further products will follow.
Sanner recently acquired the Durham-based CDMO Gilero, a firm specializing in medical design, development, manufacturing, assembly, and packaging. Sanner also opened its second production facility in Kunshan, China, in 2023 and started production at the new state-of-the-art manufacturing site and headquarters in Bensheim, Germany, this year.
“The opening of our new U.S. facility in Greensboro marks a key milestone in our long-term growth strategy,” Sanner Group Chief Sales Officer Christian Classen commented. “We are strengthening our position as a trusted CDMO partner, bringing together proven expertise, technological excellence, and a strong track record in drug delivery, diagnostics, and medtech devices. At the same time, we are expanding our active primary healthcare packaging business with local production capabilities in the U.S. This enables us to serve our North American customers more efficiently, with shorter delivery times and the consistent, high quality they expect from Sanner.”
Building on a company history that spans more than 130 years, Sanner has continuously evolved into a global provider of plastic healthcare packaging and device-related offerings. With decades of experience in desiccant packaging and moisture management solutions for the healthcare industry, and a steadily expanding portfolio that now includes medical device capabilities, Sanner continues to grow its global footprint and deepen its commitment to the U.S. market, where it has been active since 1995.
Sanner GmbH was founded in 1894. Headquartered in Germany with best-in-class manufacturing facilities across Germany, France, Hungary, China, and the United States, Sanner has developed from a global developer of desiccant closures and effervescent tablet packaging into a provider of customized solutions in medical devices and diagnostics, pharmaceuticals, and consumer healthcare. Today, Sanner supplies its products to more than 150 countries globally and has over 820 employees. In November 2021, GHO Capital acquired a majority stake in Sanner to support its growth and help transform the company into a global medtech CDMO.
