Sanmina-SCI Earns 20th ISO Certification

The facility in China has met international standards.

San Jose, Calif.-based Sanmina-SCI Corp.’s facility in Suzhou, China, has been awarded ISO 13485 certification for medical device manufacturing. This certification level is an internationally recognized standard indicating that a company consistently produces medical devices that meet government regulations as well as customer requirements. It is the 20th plant in Sanmina-SCI’s network to receive the ISO 13485.

“We have the most ISO 13485 qualified facilities of any design and manufacturing provider,” said Seamus Grady, senior vice president of the medical division of the company.

Founded as Sanmina in Silicon Valley in 1980, the company became Sanmina-SCI when it acquired Space Craft Incorporated Systems in 2001. The company manufactures optical, electronic and mechanical products that are used in the medical sector among others. The medical division provides original equipment manufacturers with a worldwide network of manufacturing facilities that includes nine factories registered with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
