ReVision Optics Names New CEO and President

ReVision Optics, Inc. (RVO) has appointed John T. Kilcoyne CEO and president. Kilcoyne will succeed J. Randy Alexander, who will become board chairman.

Kilcoyne brings nearly 30 years of experience to the position; he served as chairman and CEO of Micrus Endovascular Corporation until it was acquired by Johnson & Johnson in September 2010. From 2002 to 2004, he was president and CEO of Solace Therapeutics, a Framingham, Mass.-based emerging medical device company that develops and commercializes office-based treatments for bladder disorders. He also served as president and CEO of Endonetics Inc. from 1997 to 2001. The privately held San Diego firm, which developed technologies for the diagnosis and treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease, was purchased by Medtronic Inc. in December 2001.

“I am honored to join RVO at this time in their development,” Kilcoyne said. “The potential for their technology and the depth of experience of their employees made this the right choice.”

Alexander said Kilcoyne’s background made him a prime candidate for the job.

“John’s broad range of experience in the medical device industry and his demonstrated ability to understand the needs of patients and physicians made him the best person for this position,” Alexander said. “As RVO moves from our research and development stage into commercialization, it’s more important than ever to have someone with John’s background at the helm. We are delighted that he has joined our company.”

ReVision Optics is a privately held company that focuses on custom optical solutions for vision correction. The company is based in Lake Forest, Calif.
