Qosina Introduces New Breathable Sterilization Pouches

The two models are customizable.

Edgewood, N.Y.-based Qosina Corp. has added peelable- and header-styled breathable pouches to its line of sterilization pouches and accessories. The pouches offer protection and abrasion resistance, the company claims, and are formed with a 3/8-inch seal.

The peelable breathable pouches are available in sizes ranging from 13 inches by 15 inches to 24 inches by 30 inches. The white side is made of uncoated medical-grade Tyvek (a brand of flash-spun, high-density polyethylene fibers) and the clear side is made of PET (polyethylene terephthalate) and 2 millimeter LDPE (low-density polyethylene). These pouches feature an unprinted corner peel and are suitable for ETO (ethylene oxide), gamma, and electron-beam sterilization. The breathable pouches with header are available in sizes ranging from 10 inches by 15 inches to 19 inches by 30 inches, including the lip of the bag. These unprinted pouches are made of 4-millimeter linear LDPE with a heat-seal coated Tyvek header. They include peel instructions at the bottom of the header that indicate “peel to open,” and are suitable for ETO and gamma sterilization.

Both styles reportedly provide a clean peelability that minimizes fiber tears and particulate release. Qosina also offers custom options in pre-printing, size, shape, and material.
