New employees add to the company's engineering and manufacturing talent.
Concord, Calif.-based Pulse Systems has made two key hires. The company, which provides metal fabrication services for the medical device industry, as named a new director of operations and a senior manufacturing engineer.
Brett Poole, the firm’s new director of ops, has spent his career in manufacturing management and customer service. Prior to joining Pulse, Poole was general manager of Fusion Composites in Benicia, Calif., a manufacturer of aerospace composite materials and components. Previously, he was operations manager for CCS Composites in Benicia. In the weeks prior to joining the Pulse Systems management team, Poole was engaged as a consultant to the company, during which time he, according to the company, conducted a “very successful and rapid implementation” of the JobBOSS shop-floor control system. In his new role, he will be responsible for customer service, order administration, material management and production control. Poole received his Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Sciences from California Polytechnic State University at San Luis Obispo.
Also joining Pulse Systems is Wen Ho, Ph.D., as senior manufacturing engineer for laser processing. Ho most recently has been teaching college physics at DeAnza College in Cupertino, Calif., and the College of New Jersey in Ewing Township, N.J. Previously she had been employed by Abbott Vascular in Santa Clara, Calif., where she was responsible for developing laser processing methods and equipment for stent manufacturing. A distinguished researcher, Ho was a member of the technical staff at Sarnoff Corporation in Princeton, N.J., developing advanced laser/optical instrumentation. Earlier in her career, she was employed for eight years by Resonetics of Nashua, N.H., where she helped establish their laser processing job shop capabilities. Ho earned her doctorate in solid-state physics from Northeastern University in Boston, Mass., and her B.S. in physics from Beijing Normal College in China.
“We are pleased and proud to have these two highly qualified and talented individuals join the Pulse team at this time. As we continue to add breadth to our service offerings and depth to our technological platforms, Brett and Wen, together with the very skilled and experienced team here at Pulse, will help provide the management and technical leadership needed to move the Company forward and to support our customers’ future needs,” said Herb Bellucci, president and CEO.
Founded in 1998, Pulse Systems provides precision laser machining of tubular metal components for the medical device industry, including implantable devices such as endovascular stents. The company also supplies services such as laser welding, CNC machining, electropolishing, Nitinol shape-setting, and Class 10,000 clean room assembly.
