Teleflex Names New Leader Benson F. Smith has been named chairman, president and CEO at Teleflex Incorporated. Before Smith joined Teleflex’s board of directors in 2005, he was president, COO and a member of the board of directors at C.R. Bard, Inc.; Smith was with the Murray Hill, N.J.-based company for 25 years. He also is board chairman of Zoll Medical Corporation (Chelmsford, Mass.) and a board member at Rochester Medical Corporation in Stewartsville, Minn. ReVision Optics Names New CEO and President ReVision Optics, Inc. (RVO) has appointed John T. Kilcoyne CEO and president. Kilcoyne brings more than 29 years of experience to the position; he served as chairman and CEO of Micrus Endovascular Corporation until it was acquired by Johnson & Johnson in September 2010. From 2002 to 2004, he was president and CEO of Solace Therapeutics, a Framingham, Mass.-based emerging medical device company that develops and commercializes office-based treatments for bladder disorders. He also served as president and CEO of Endonetics Inc. from 1997 to 2001. The privately held San Diego firm, which developed technologies for the diagnosis and treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease, was purchased by Medtronic Inc. in December 2001. Vice President of Operations Announced By Ergoresearch Ergoresearch Ltd has appointed Frédéric Petit vice president of operations. Previously, Petit was director of operations for Clinique de Pied Équilibre, a division of Ergoresearch, which he joined in 2007. New VPs Named at AccuRounds AccuRounds has promoted Patrick O’Connell to vice president of operations and Joseph Barry to vice president of sales. O’Connell has been the operations manager at AccuRounds for eight years and is credited with the implementation of lean strategies that resulted in better efficiency and higher productivity at the firm. He will oversee operational excellence throughout the company. Barry joined AccuRounds as a sales manager in 2004, and is credited with a sales growth of 85 percent since that time, according to company executives. Before joining AccuRounds, he held various sales and management positions in the metals industry. Former VP at Reva Returns Jeffrey A. Anderson has rejoined Reva Medical, Inc. Anderson is returning as vice president of clinical and regulatory affairs, a position he last held from 2004 to 2008. Before rejoining Reva, Anderson was vice president of regulatory and clinical affairs and vice president of research and development for Neomend, Inc., a privately held clinical stage biomedical device company headquartered in Irvine, Calif. He also worked at Abbott Vascular, Jomed Inc. (which was acquired by Volcano Therapeutics Inc. in July 2003), CRS Clinical Research Services Andernach GmbH and Medtronic Inc. Xeridiem Announces New Vice President of Business Development Renae Moomjian has joined Xeridiem Medical Devices Inc. as vice president of business development, overseeing the growth of the company’s design and development services. Before being hired at Xeridiem, Moomjian was the general manager of the blood collection and processing division of SEBRA (also known as Engineering and Research Associates Inc.), which was acquired in September 2009 by Haemonetics Corporation. Moomjian also held the positions of sales and marketing director, new business development director, and electrophysiology program manager at SEBRA. Prior to her tenure at SEBRA, Moomjian was cardiovascular sales specialist for global biopharmaceutical giant AstraZeneca. OrthoCon Names New President and CEO John J. Pacifico has been named president, CEO and member of Orthocon Inc.’s board of directors. He joined the company in 2007 as vice president of corporate development, and was made senior vice president of commercial operations in 2009; Pacifico was responsible for the commercial launch of OrthoStat, the company’s first U.S. Food and Drug Administration-approved product, according to the company. Comings and Goings at Small Bone Innovations Richard L. Kovach has joined Small Bone Innovations Inc. as senior vice president. Kovach will be responsible for worldwide product management, product development, medical education, clinical, regulatory, reimbursement and intellectual property management. Before he was hired at Small Bone Innovations (SBi), Kovach was president and chief operations officer at OrthoHelix Surgical Designs Inc., a Medina, Ohio-based provider of extremity fixation products. The addition of Kovach is tempered by the departures of two senior SBi executives—Thomas A. Crowley, Jr., president; and Florian Kemmerich, president, SBi International SAS. Crowley, who left to focus on his role as board director of several charitable organizations, is providing consulting services to SBi. Kemmerich, on the other hand, accepted a position leading Olympus Biotech Europe SAS. Two New Leaders Join Ortho Kinematics Ortho Kinematics has announced the additions of David Muller as vice president of sales and Ken Walker, RN, as director of clinical operations. Muller has held senior positions with both start-up and major spine industry manufacturers in his 30-year tenure in the medical device industry. Walker will oversee all aspects of the ongoing clinical study of the company’s KineGraph VMA (Vertebral Motion Analyzer). Previously, he was director of the Zimmer Institute and global director of medical education for Abbott Spine, Inc. Orthofix Names New CFO Orthofix International N.V. has promoted Brian McCollum to chief financial officer. McCollum, who had been serving as interim CFO since Jan. 1, officially assumed his new role on March 1. Last year, executives named McCollum senior vice president of finance. He joined Orthofix’s corporate finance group in 2001, eventually advancing to the position of corporate controller. In 2006, McCollum was named vice president of finance, Americas, and two years later became vice president of international finance and group treasurer. Prior to joining Orthofix, McCollum was a senior audit associate with PriceWaterhouseCoopers. New VP of Sales to Oversee Expansion of Mirador’s Medical Device Technology Steve Gappa has been named vice president of sales at Mirador Biomedical, Inc. Gappa has 21 years of experience, including 10 years in sales and management with Arrow International, where he was an inaugural member of the Chairman’s Club and a top sales representative. Gappa will oversee the sales expansion of Mirador’s Compass family of medical devices. Tegrant Corporation Names New President of ThermoSafe Brands Tegrant Corporation announced that Kevin Longe has joined the company as president of its ThermoSafe Brands business unit. Before joining Tegrant, Longe was president of Lydall Performance Materials Inc., a pharmaceutical, life sciences, energy, engine, electronics and industrial markets product manufacturer. He has also held leadership positions at Electro Scientific Industries, headquartered in Portland, Ore., Evapco, Inc., headquartered in Taneytown, Md., and Imeco, Inc., headquartered in Iron Mountain, Mich. Cappella Names New CEO and Executive Vice Chairman Cappella Medical Devices announced that Paul Shea has been appointed CEO. The decision was effective immediately on April 5. Shea will be based at the company’s headquarters in Galway, Ireland. Prior to his new role, Shea was senior vice president of sales at Sentinelle Medical in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. In addition, Art Rosenthal, Ph.D has been promoted to executive vice chairman and will be responsible for strategic partnering, clinical development and networking initiatives.
