Olympus will reveal its new Olysense platform with CADDIE computer-aided detection device at next week’s Digestive Disease Week (DDW) annual meeting.

The platform uses cloud-based artificial intelligence (AI) to help gastroenterologists with suspected polyp detection during a colonoscopy. The platform is part of a portfolio of ADR solutions to be featured during DDW.

Other products include visualization technologies like Endocuff Vision and Texture and Color Enhancement Imaging (TXI) used to treat GI diseases and disorders. Also featured during DDW will be the company’s portfolio of hemostasis products, ERCP portfolio products, and the newly launched EU-ME3 ultrasound processor.

The hemostasis products to be discussed and demonstrated during DDW include: Red Dichromatic Imaging (RDI) technology for identifying the source of bleeds, which is part of the EVIS X1 endoscopy system; Endoclot PHS hemostatic powder; and the Retentia HemoClip.

Also to be featured is the EU-ME3 compact ultrasound processor. It’s for use with the company’s endoscopic and endobronchial ultrasound (EUS and EBUS) equipment that has been designed for integration with conventional endoscopy on a single workstation. The EU-ME3 ultrasound processor supports lesion detection and characterization. Advanced features like Contrast Harmonic Echo (CHE) and Shear Wave Quantification (SWQ) help explore the future of endosonography, Olympus said.

“We are very excited to be bringing our CADe AI solution to the U.S. market as part of the visionary OLYSENSE Platform, and we’re thrilled to be demonstrating the first cloud-based AI for colonoscopy solution during DDW,” said Miquel Àngel Garcìa, Senior Vice President and General Manager for Endoscopy Ecosystem Solutions at Olympus Corporation. “As a global MedTech leader in endoscopy, we are committed to offering gastroenterologists the best solutions possible along the entire patient care pathway. We look forward to a very robust and comprehensive program of product demonstrations and physician talks at this year’s DDW meeting.”

Last week, the company announced that former Medtronic executive Bob While will take office as CEO on June 1.
