New Version of Covidien’s Mesh Twice-Approved

Covidien PLC’s Parietex Optimized Composite Mesh has been approved for sale in the United States and the European Union.

The mesh will commercially be available in both regions this month. According to Covidien, the mesh has a more resistant barrier than its original version, which has been used since 1999. It also features a more visible textile design.

“It’s an impressive accomplishment to improve upon a trusted product like [Parietex Composite]mesh by making it stronger and more resistant while simultaneously preserving the benefits that surgeons expect,” said Michel Therin, vice president for soft tissue repair and biosurgery at Covidien.
