Continuous glucose monitoring and imaging technology news took top honors this past week on MPO’s website.

The continuous glucose monitor (CGM)-related dispatches came from Know Labs and Glucotrack. The former unveiled its KnowU wearable, non-invasive CGM, six months after announcing the prototype for it. The device can be worn with an adhesive or on the wrist or forearm with a strap; it includes onboard computing power and built-in machine learning capabilities as well. Know Labs plans to submit the product’s sensor to the FDA for clearance. The sensor has been tested and proven stable and accurate in the lab setting.

Glucotrack, meanwhile, enticed cybervisitors with its choice of outsource partner Cirtec Medical as manufacturer for its implantable Continuous Blood Glucose Monitor. The two companies have signed a deal for the product’s clinical and commercial manufacturing.

Fujifilm and Royal Philips garnered their fare share of pageviews through their respective imaging technology updates. Fujifilm Healthcare Americas caught MPO loyalists’ eyes by gaining FDA 510(k) clearance for Scale Eye, part of the company’s growing Eluxeo endoscopic imaging system. Scale Eye consists of a laser-equipped colonoscope and endoscopy support software and displays a linear or circular virtual measurement over the area of interest on the endoscopy monitor. Using it, endoscopists can estimate the size of colorectal lesions in vivo without needing visual estimations, consumable tools, or further surgical instruments.

Philips followed suit by unveiling its LumiGuide imaging technology, which uses light to navigate through blood vessels instead of X-ray. LumiGuide’s radiation-free tech can be particularly useful in complex aortic procedures.
